Quebec Geography

Many of the St.Germain family came from the town of Yamaska and the region around the Yamaska River, a tributary of the St.Lawrence River.

Some settled around the St.Francois River, north of Yamaska.

Others lived further north, in Trois-Rivières and Quebec City.

I believe that Jean Gaussin came from Saint-Germain-de-la-Rivière in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, on the north bank of the Dordogne River, highlighted below:

The layout of the land seems similar to Quebec, with rectangular farms stretching along snaking rivers.
